Tiger Pantry Refrigeration

The Tiger Pantry is a part of the Tigers Fight Hunger initiative that serves as an on-campus resource to UofM students who face food insecurity. The Tiger Pantry is a “choice-pantry” filled with non-perishable food and hygiene items that is free to U of M students and community. The Pantry has been used over 360 times since August 2018, serving over 150 individual students within this academic year!

Tigers Fight Hunger is expanding the Tiger Pantry through the Momentum platform by raising funds to purchase a refrigerator for fresh food options. Refrigeration for the Tiger Pantry will provide healthy options to students who experience food insecurity and may struggle to access these foods due to limited funds or transportation. Refrigeration will provide students with access to fresh foods, such as fruits, vegetables, non-canned or processed proteins, and more! Having this kind of resource supports the well-being of students by easing the stress of where their next meal will come from. With this addition, Tigers Fight Hunger will not only be able to connect students to non-perishable food items, toiletries, and hot meals in the Tiger Den… but also fresh foods to take home!

Your donation makes a difference in a UofM student's life by supporting resources that connect student’s to nutritious food options. Many college students are financially stressed by the cost of school and living and are often posed to skip meals due to lack of funds. Your donation will help us reach our goal of purchasing a refrigerator for the Tiger Pantry. The impact it will create for our students will be priceless, by providing a place where students can obtain food during tough times. This support will ease the stress that is placed on college students and eliminate the negative effects hunger places on students facing food insecurity. Together, we can end campus hunger!
