Who Are We:
The University of Memphis Alternative Spring Break (ASB) student participants will spend the week serving nonprofit agencies and communities in an effort to make a difference in the lives of others while experiencing the culture of the community they are serving. ASB provides students with an opportunity to gain personal growth through education and direct service in order to create life-long links between students and service.
Our Mission:
The University of Memphis Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program engages individuals in short-term service-learning experiences that challenge social, political and economic structures of our global community. Through reflection, education and service, Alternative Breaks develops mutually beneficial community partnerships, critical thinking and leadership skills to create a socially just world.
Your Support:
Our student interest has been so large that we will be taking two groups to serve in the St. Louis, Missouri and Gatlinburg, TN communities! The funds raised will be used for transportation, meals, and supplies needed for service sites in both communities that student participants will be serving. Any unused funds will be used to expand Alternative Break offerings to create more opportunities for students to serve in more communities locally, nationally, and internationally.
