Mitchell Hall, originally built in 1963 as the School of Business Administration Building at the University of Memphis, has served generations of students, faculty and visitors. Today, it primarily serves as the home for the History Department, our Education Support Programs and the Office of First-Generation Student Success. While its history is rich, the lobby has become outdated, lacking the welcoming, modern atmosphere needed to support today's campus community. We are raising funds to renovate this key space, transforming it into a bright, comfortable area where students can gather, prospective students and families can feel at ease during visits and alumni can return to a refreshed part of their campus experience.
This modernization will not only honor the legacy of Mitchell Hall but also create a more inviting environment for everyone who enters. With new furnishings, updated décor and improved design, the lobby will become a vibrant and functional space that reflects the forward-looking spirit of the university. Your support will help ensure that Mitchell Hall continues to be a welcoming gateway for the next generation of Tigers.
