PRSSA ICON 2023: A Massive Success
In 2023, we set an ambitious goal—to host the PRSSA International Conference (ICON), the premier event for strategic media students and professionals. After a rigorous bidding process, we secured the opportunity to host ICON, and the event took place at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee, from October 13 to 17, 2023. We aimed for 500 registrants and exceeded our wildest expectations, with nearly 600 attendees, doubling the total from the previous year. The event was a massive success, not just for us but for the University of Memphis as a whole.
Expanding Our Reach: District Conference in 2025
Now, we're setting our sights even higher. We want to host a PRSSA district conference in spring 2025, but the journey begins now. To prepare for this monumental event, our executive board needs to attend this year's PRSSA district conferences across the country. These conferences offer invaluable insights into the logistics and planning required to make our district conference a success.

After our triumphant International Conference, we're now gearing up for an even more ambitious endeavor – hosting our own district conference. Our meticulous preparations for ICON have forged robust connections with influential speakers eager to engage Memphis students. Memphis, with its flourishing healthcare, non-profit, music, sports, and government sectors, offers the perfect setting for our conference, adding a unique dimension to the experience. We've also nurtured relationships in nearby cities like Nashville and Atlanta, expanding our network and resources. With our faculty and professional advisers actively involved in the local PRSA professionals board, industry expertise is at our fingertips. Plus, the unwavering support of our alumni community guarantees a strong, cohesive foundation ready to elevate our district conference.
