The funds raised from this project will memorialize Coach Peter Bermel and Coach Chris Bartels by officially naming the practice soccer pitch after them. Coach Bermel was the first men's soccer head coach in school history starting the Tiger program in 1982. He coached for six seasons through the 1987 campaign amassing a 61-48-14 record during the time. Coach Bartels was the Tigers' men’s soccer head coach from 1988-1998. He led the program to its first conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1993. He finished his 11-year career with a 110-89-19 record. Both had tremendous impact on the sport of soccer here at the University of Memphis and in the community.
