Rick Dwyer Memorial Tree at Lambuth
Rick Dwyer (Lambuth College, 1980) passed away on April 17, 2019 after struggling with heart disease for several years. He started school at Lambuth in 1976 and graduated in 1980. Rick was active in student government, Campus Congregation, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He spent several years working at the Shelby County Juvenile Court in Memphis after graduating from Lambuth. Rick was a happy and engaging guy, and could always bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
Steve Anderson and Joe Murphy, two of Rick’s friends and fraternity brothers, are raising money in order to plant a tree on the campus as a memorial to Rick. A plaque memorializing Rick will be placed at the tree. Why a tree? Steve and Joe both said that their memories of Lambuth include warm spring days when Rick spent the afternoon throwing a Frisbee on the quad and hanging out with friends before everyone went into the dining hall for dinner. Planting a tree, a living memorial to Rick, in a place where he had so much fun, just seems like a good way to remember him and celebrate his life. An added benefit to any donation you make is that the tree will add to the beauty of the campus.
Anything you can donate is appreciated by Rick’s family and friends, and the entire Lambuth Community. Your donation will not only help to preserve Rick’s memory, you will also be helping to enhance the campus we all love and where we had so much fun.
