The University of Memphis is proud to host students from all over the world, with 72 foreign countries currently represented by over 500 international students in our student body. Our international students excel in their fields of study, contribute to research and innovation, and help make make our city a diverse and inclusive community. We are dedicated to supporting them during these difficult times.
The International Student Emergency Fund was established to support International Students at the UofM who are unable to return home or obtain employment during the pandemic. The pandemic has affected our international student’s in several ways. We estimate that about 350 international students at the University of Memphis will be unable to return home over the summer break due to COVID-19 travel bans and stay-at-home orders. International students are unable to secure on-campus employment or external internships.
The Fund will help to assist students who are struggling to afford unexpected expenses such as housing, health insurance, food, transportation, and other essential needs.
