What is the Scholarship and Why Should You Donate?
To honor the legacy of Tim’s work, Paige (Beverly) Walkup, ANTH ‘99, the University of Memphis Anthropology faculty, and its Community Advisory Board have created the Tim Bolding Scholarship in Urban Anthropology & Community Development. This fund is dedicated to growing Tim’s legacy, exposing University of Memphis Anthropology graduate students to community development opportunities, and expanding their professional skills through the extensive community networks maintained by the University of Memphis Anthropology alumni.
The Tim Bolding Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduate student whose work and research focuses in urban anthropology and community development. We are asking for donations to help endow the scholarship in Tim's honor, which will make it available for many years to come. This scholarship enables student recipients to work within the local community and use their academic knowledge to help create positive change in Memphis, just like Tim did.
Furthermore, this fund will help future recipients attend conferences, which is not only important for their academic goals but also for spreading information about their work to other communities. This way students can demonstrate the importance of urban anthropology and community development and teach others how to conduct this work in a meaningful and positive way. By donating to this scholarship, you are not only helping maintain Tim's legacy, but you are also helping new students create positive change in our community.
