Hi from the sandbox. team at the University of Memphis! It's been a while!

Thank you to everyone that donated last year! We have finally installed the builder wall with your name on it! We used a marketing firm to help create the "builder wall" plate and metal boxes that we can add names to using the Cricut vinyl cutter, which we were able to purchase with your donation! Check out the video (below) that Casey made to show the process. Feel free to stop by McWherter Library and check it out! We hope to see you soon. (We're currently fundraising for our next round, too!)

We've come so far in the past 25 days and we can't express our gratitude enough! This video shows the things your donations will bring to McWherter Library and the sandbox. as well as the instructional and workshop services we will offer students and the community. Thank you all!

Thank you so much to our generous donors who have contributed to the sandbox.’s original goal of $2,000. We are now able to make more technology and workshops available to all students on the University of Memphis campus regardless of major, degree program, or year of study. We would like to see if we can expand the sandbox. even further by doubling our original goal and raising $4,000 total, doubling the amount of technology and workshops originally planned — we’re already over halfway to our new goal!

Expanding the sandbox. is important to our community. Most of the technology elsewhere on campus is funded by grants which have specific requirements that limits its use to students in a particular major or taking a specific course. the sandbox. at the University Libraries provides free technology to all University of Memphis staff, faculty, and students, be they first-year composition students, senior economics majors, or doctoral candidates in chemistry. By empowering students with access to technology and workshops they might not have access to elsewhere, the sandbox. enables students from a range of disciplines to collaborate alongside each other and inspire one another. Students in degree programs not traditionally associated with technology have often requested workshops to help them learn how to use various computer programs or pieces of equipment. By giving to the sandbox., you encourage a collaborative and multidisciplinary spirit across campus in a supportive and innovative environment!

Thank you to all of those who have donated and helped reach more than 80% of our goal by Day 2! We are amazed and honored! We really appreciate your support and look forward to sharing all that we will be able to accomplish with your donation.

One of the students’ current favorite technologies are our 3D printers and a 3D scanner that are available at no cost for students, staff, and faculty. With your amazing donation, the MomentUM fundraising campaign to expand the sandbox. will allow the Libraries to offer in-depth workshops on how to use the current 3D technology, as well as workshops on supplemental technologies and software. McWherter Library currently offers 1-hour 3D printer orientation workshops for UofM users. New in-depth workshops will provide attendees at any level immersive workshops on 3D printing, covering everything from how to create a design to finishing a final printed product with sandpaper and paint.

By supporting the sandbox., you are supporting student learning beyond the standard curriculum and facilitating the development of new, innovative ideas.
