Coach Ryan Silverfield began his tenure as the 25th head coach in Memphis football history by leading the Tigers into their first major bowl game appearance: the 2019 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in Dallas. Keeping the streak alive in 2021, Coach Silverfield led the program to its eighth-straight bowl game, extending the longest bowl streak of any non-Power 5 team in the country. As head coach, Silverfield has coached eleven all-conference performers, one FWAA Freshman All-American, one First-Team Senior CLASS Award All-American, one William V. Campbell Trophy recipient and six NFL Draft picks.
