John Edwin Yarbrough Scholarship for Health Sciences and Physical Therapy

John Yarbrough graduated from Lambuth in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology. He went on to complete a Physical Therapy degree at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in 1973. He is a lifelong resident of Jackson and with his wife, Carolyn have two children Patrick and Julie. They also have five wonderful grandchildren Bailey, Jake, Noel, Seth and Maddox.

As Executive Director of the West Tennessee Health Care Physical Therapy Department, John made certain the department was role model for care in this region. He served as the Co-President of the University of Memphis Lambuth Chapter Alumni Board and has been active in the First United Methodist Church of Jackson. He continues to have a strong presence on the Lambuth campus and has been instrumental in bringing together alumni to design and renovate the Heritage Room, which commemorate the years of athletic and academic successes of MCFI-Lambuth University. He continues to lead the Jackson Alumni Board to help build a stronger tomorrow for Lambuth. John has donated his time, energy and resources to the Lambuth campus and the Jackson community.

Through the years of both Lambuth College and present-day UofM Lambuth Campus, John has been a steadfast and loyal supporter. John has also served on the Lambuth Campus Advisory Board, Lambuth Chapter Alumni Board, and most notably, the UofM Alumni Association’s National Board of Directors as a representative of the Lambuth Campus.

In honor of John Yarbrough’s support and commitment to the UofM Lambuth Campus, his fellow KA fraternity brothers and their wives, Bob and Becky Sadowski and Jim and Judy Ostner, established the John Edwin Yarbrough Scholarship for Lambuth Students studying Health Sciences.
